Those expecting an improved variant of the current HTC flagship, the HTC 10, may be disappointed as the Desire moniker is generally used by the company for its low- to mid-range smartphones. It is possible that the company may launch a smartphone with the same metal body as the HTC 10, but with lower specifications.

This would make the device a good proposition for those looking for a good-looking smartphone at reasonably affordable pricing.

To recall, the HTC 10 was launched in India more than a month ago in India, and sports an all-metal body with broad, chamfered edges around the rear of the phone. Specifications-wise, the device sports a 5.2-inch QHD display, and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC with 4GB of RAM. At the back is a 12MP UltraPixel camera with Optical Image Stabilisation, laser-assisted autofocus and an f/1.8 aperture lens, while at the front is a 5MP camera that is also equipped with OIS.

It should also be noted that HTC has globally unveiled a less expensive variant of the phone, called the HTC 10 Lifestyle. It is quite similar to the standard HTC 10, but is powered by a Snapdragon 652 SoC with 3GB of RAM. This variant, though, is not available in India, and HTC has not stated whether it will be launched in the country.
